CRG Victorious at 2nd Round of U.S. Open
July 6, 2015 – CRG came away big at the second round of the U.S. Open located in Grand Junction Colorado. The results back up the wins and podiums for the first round of the U.S. Open race at Dallas Karting Complex in May proving that CRG’s can compete and win at any track; wet, cold or scorching hot.
The big race of the day was the battle of the factory drivers in factory supported equipment. With both drivers flying over from Europe, ex CRG driver Jordan Lennox Lamb was beaten by five time world champion Davide Fore’ in his CRG Road Rebel Zuera chassis. Davide made a last lap past, around the outside to take the victory and maintain his points lead in Shifter Elite. Davide also pulled in the quickest lap of the race with CRG USA’s Sabre’ Cook pulling off the 2nd fastest lap of the race. Rounding off the podium in Shifter Elite was Joey Wimsett in 3rd position.
Shifter senior saw the continued dominance of the same CRG chassis as Shifter Elite with Colby Yardley leading the way until a mechanical issue forced him out of the race. However before exiting the event Yardley managed the quickest lap. Cody Jolly brought home the CRG colors in 2nd position to keep up his title hopes. He is however in a strong position to win that coveted race with the factory CRG team in Europe next year.
Shifter Masters and Veteran proved to that CRG’s are easy to drive for the older guys to. Darren Elliott pulled in a victory in Shifter Masters. CRG continued with its success by sweeping the podium in Shifter Veteran with Dave Conyes taking home first place, followed by Jet Davis (who set fast lap of the race) and rounding out the final step on the podium was Hugh Tempeman.
Honorable mentions go to Cason Mueller in Shifter Junior for finishing third and Ben Johnston in DD2 Masters for a hard fought second step on the podium. Grant Langon finished 6th in his Mini Hero 1010 in Mini-Max as well. In the tuff field of TaG adult classes, Billy Cleavelin brought is CRG KT2 home 4th after setting the third quickest lap, less than 3 tenths off.
In all CRG managed 3 wins, 3 seconds, and 3 thirds from eight classes.
